SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Now in its third year, the Jenkins Athletic Club’s Clays for Kids sporting clays fundraiser has raised nearly $100,000 to support the girls and boys athletic club.
This year’s event included gold sponsors Sweetener Solutions and Water Utility Management and silver sponsors Critz Auto Group, Bank of America, Ocean Electrical Contracting, Inc., Industrial Technical Services, Inc., Woodside Plantation, and Pearl’s Saltwater Grille.
“We had some incredible support from the community,” said Mark Stevens, Clays for Kids event chair and Jenkins Athletic Club board member. “This year, 29 teams participated in the event at the Forest City Gun Club. Thanks to everyone who came out, the Jenkins Athletic Club will continue to build upon its mission and further extend its services and programs for the betterment of Savannah’s youth.”
The 3rd Annual Clays for Kids winners included Oliver Maner with team members Lee Summerford, Justin Giles, Dan Smart, and Lee Whitley. Brett Hunt won the “High Overall Male” winner and Katherine Warden was awarded the “High Overall Female” winner.
Founded in 1933 by the late Judge Victor B. Jenkins, the Jenkins Athletic Club has been a mainstay in the Savannah community for nearly 90 years. Today, the Club offers a range of youth athletic programs and seasonal camps for both girls and boys.
Over the last few years, demand for the Club and its programs has exceeded its capacity. Events like Clays for Kids are necessary to help fund facility improvements and initiatives to include all kids and teams who would like a chance to play at the Jenkins Athletic Club.
